Viva Oaxaca

Program of 4 Days & 3 Nights, which will allow know Oaxaca, rich in culture, archaeology and traditions, as well as having beautiful beaches and varied flora and fauna.

Oaxaca has archaeological remains of the Mixtec and Zapotec cultures, which founded the great cities of Mitla and Monte Albán. You will enjoy the festive traditions of the Guelaguetza (the most important in the state) where seven ethnic delegations dance and celebrate, wearing their traditional costumes of remarkable beauty.

Among the renowned beaches are Puerto Escondido, Huatulco and the lesser known ones of Mazunte, all these sites are famous for their great waves for surfing. There is also an exquisite cuisine that comes from this state, which includes unique dishes and a series of seven different moles. You will discover the city and its colorful market, which would be a good excuse to try one or all the exquisite moles that can be found, as well as the king of all Oaxacan moles, as the black mole.

ITINERARY

Day 1, OAXACA

  • Arrival at Oaxaca airport / bus terminal.
  • Meet and Greetings.
  • Transfer In to Hotel and Check in.
  • Free afternoon.
  • Accommodation in CP in a standard room at the Victoria Oaxaca 4* hotel or similar hotel 4* with all taxes included.

Day 2, OAXACA CITY TOUR

  • Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • Departure from the lobby for the City Tour of Oaxaca de Juarez.
  • Learn about the magic that Oaxaca hides in the Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, an important monumental formed by an architectural ensemble of the most beautiful samples of the Baroque in Mexico of the Dominican Order.
  • You will enter knowing the Oaxaca regional museum where Mixtec, Zapotec archeology and the treasure of tomb No. 7 of Monte Albán are exhibited. There are 24 paintings of saints of different sizes in this chapel and in the upper room we can see an oil painting of the Virgin giving a rosary to Santo Domingo.
    Next to it you can see images of San Joaquín and Santa Ana, parents of the Virgin. In the pendentives of the dome there are four busts of the evangelists who lull the rest of the ashes of the insurgent journalist Carlos María de Bustamante with their parables. In the former convent, the first courtyard or cloister of processions - delimited by perimeter corridors covered by ribbed vaults Gothic primitive - on the walls there are remains of frescoes, paintings of saints from the 17th century. On the upper floor, the corridors are covered with vaults with semicircular arches on imposts and capitals of attached columns.
  • We continue to know the magic of Oaxaca on foot on one of the main streets of the city of Oaxaca, Cobbled street with green quarry that opens the way to the Tourist Walker, from Santo Domingo de Guzmán and to the central part of the city, during the course of locating various museums, galleries, craft shops and restaurants. In the center we can enjoy a mix of music and Marimba band sounds and we will know the portals of the center, the Garden of the Constitution.
  • And to end this magical tour we will visit the folkloric markets: The Benito Juárez Market, which is the most traditional, where you can buy and compare handicrafts such as black clay or the most representative alebrijes, here you will find everything from typical costumes Of the eight regions of the state of Oaxaca, famous products such as: Mole Oaxaqueño, Tlayudas, Mezcal, Chocolate, Quesillo and Chapulines and the 20 de Noviembre market, while passing through its main meat aisle, you cannot leave without first tasting the Oaxaca's rich gastronomy.

Day 3, MONTE ALBÁN & ARRAZOLA

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Monte Albán is an archaeological site located 10 km from the city of Oaxaca. It is part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites.
    It was named by the Zapotecs as "Dani Baá" or Montaña Sagrada and later, "Yucucui" or Cerro Verde, by the Mixtec indigenous people who inhabited it around the 12th century. It was inhabited by the Zapotecs and finally, by the Mixtecs. Furthermore, studying architecture, the specialists found that Monte Albán had contact with other cultures, mainly with the inhabitants of the powerful Teotihuacán, in central Mexico. In this archaeological tour you will see the most important Archaeological Zone in the state of Oaxaca, "Monte Albán", the majestic urban center of regional importance unique for the religious, political and economic control exercised by the Zapotec town.
  • The next place to visit is full of magic, colors and tradition, "San Antonio Arrazola". Upon arrival you will realize that all the senses are on the surface, where the famous artisans will teach us how they carry out the carving of Copal wood, explaining to us the whole process that is simply carried out to get the logs for the carving, as part of an ancestral tradition of the Zapotecs, giving origin of the unreal and magical figures called "Alebrijes", which represent the innovative spirit of the Oaxacan soul. Process in which even the smallest of the family participates so that this beautiful custom isn´t lost.
